The Mountains are comming

The Black Mountains slacking on the porch
While enjoying the morning with one of my new favorits The wolf parade, The indie-as-fuck Canadians (according to pitchfork) i for once remembered some recomandations from a friend. First of all a side project to the eminent Black Mountains; The Pink Mountaintops now released on the excellent JagJaguwar label. So yessss Ed, once again you nailed it. I gotta hand it to you, The Pink Mountaintops rule. And offcourse, looking for them i found another band; Jerk of with a bomb. Also right in my ear. I've always considered Black Mountain's debut a somewhat uneven album. But dont misunderstand me. There are some great songs there, and everyone interested in rock/blues/indie-rock/psych/ should check it out. With their roots in the likes of Led Zeppelin among others some songs really pound you in the chest (in a good way). While other tracks are more diamondsharp and beautiful low-fi.
The newer The Pink Mountaintops have released two full lenght albums which consists of a lighter, more low-fi, and humorouse style. I must say the lyrics sometimes bring me out of balanse for some odd reason (lol). Trippy country meets stoner rock according to allmusic.com. But as ever, rock solid musically, and with heaps and heaps of refrences to other bands. But we can see glimpses of psych here as well. Jerk of with a bomb was the first band of the three. Their latest album The Old noise have a tight and well-played low-fi kind of approach. Which seems more seriouse than any of the other two. And like always when digging for info on bands, to many new ones appear. Another sideproject of Matthew Camirand called Blood Meridian seems to go more laid back and sometimes more deep country, but still unmistakingly indie. Though keeping the roots of the other three bands mentioned above to some degree. Their sound is thiner, more fragile. But nevertheless We almost made it home is a very good album. The four saves the week for sure.....................well.............gotta run..............
